Resumen: fhis paper presents a global analysis of the fatigue behaviour of the AL-alloy 5083. Results are presented of the irtfluence of mean stress, era ck geometry and loading mode with the objective of developing a fatigue life-computer program for this type of ahnninium alloys. A study is presented of the crack closure effect both for comer and saniel optical cracks. da/dN is correlated with the effective values of AK, AKef. A detailed study is also given of the observed multilinear shape of the da/dN AK curves. The shape of the curve is interpreted in tenns of SEM observations and measurerrents of roughness in the crack surfaces.
