ANÁLISE DE FRACTURA DE MOLDES PARA PVC EM AÇO DIN X42Cr13

Resumen: Failurcs in two plastic injection molds having a parailclcpipcdic geometry (679.5 X 5:13.5 X 86 mm) were analysed. The steel for injection molds. DlN 1.2083-X.f2CrU was heat treated by quenching and tempering to 50-52 HRC hardness. Brittle and not propagated fractures normal to the longitudinal mold axis were obseved in a transversal center plan of the mold. Fractures were origmated in a threaded hole by tensile stresses developed in the manufacture of threads by deformation. Fractographic and metallographice analysis showed a intergranular fracture and abnormal microstutural features as banded segregation. continuous carbide precipitation on grain boundaries and lcss common carbide clusters with preferencial precipitation apparently induccd by non metallic inclusions.
