INFLUENCIA DA GEOMETRIA DO PÉ DO CORDÁO NO COMPORTAMENTO A FADIGA DE JUNTAS SOLDADAS MELHORADAS

Resumen: In this paper results of both the stress concentration factor, Kt. and the stress magnifying factor, MK at the weld toe, are presented for welded joints with the local geometry at the weld toe changed by toe grinding treatrnent. The results are presented and compared for two cases, a smooth contour at the weld toe with the main plate, and a groove geometry of circular type shape introduced at the same location. For both butt and criciform joints, the differenccs in fatigue behaviour are expressed by the obtained values of Kt and MK. When grooves are produced, due to the grinding treatrnent, significant variations in fatigue strength occur that are basically due to the local geometry at the weld toe and also the thickness of the main plate.
