Resumen: Thc aim ofthis work was to study thc HAZ toughness ofwclded Q&T C-Mn steel structures and to assess the influence of thc mcchanical behaviour ofweld metal ovcr its toughness. Bead-on-plates welds werc deposited on 25 mm in thickness plates of a Q&T steel RQT 501 by SA W with 2,5 kJ/mm heat input. To get an overview ofweld metal mismatch behaviour three flux/wire combinations were tested. Threc-point-bending COD specimens were obtained from coupon plates. These specimens were notched in HAZ. near of thc fusion line. The test temperatures werc chosen between -85ºC and +20ºC. Test results show that , at the same temperatures and with the same heat input, HAZ toughness is grcater for ovcrmatching weld metals.
