NUMERICAL STUDY OF NORMAL AND TANGENCIAL PULL-OUT PROCESSES OF ANCHOR PLATES FOR PRECAST CONCRETE PANELS

Resumen: This paper presents a numerical study about pull-out process of four anchorage types for precast concrete panels, which is validated comparing its results with a previous experimental programme. The anchorages were tested applying loads of tension and shear in different positions within the panel. We generated a numerical model, using the commercial programme ATENA, for each anchorage and test. The results are very similar to those obtained during the experimental programme, attending to three principal aspects: 1) the resistance of the calculated anchorages with the numerical models is similar to the experimental one. The error is small, and even those cases which present a higher variation are acceptable and conservative. 2) Numeric load-displacement curves show a tendency similar to experimental ones. 3) Crack patterns in the concrete show the main cracks following the same paths as the real ones and a similar extension of the damage. Once validated the models, some verifications are done, concluding: concrete in the anchorage zone is the critical element and an improvement of its reinforcement makes the maximum load increase, it is recommended to place anchorages away from edges, and it is possible to reduce the length of the bars without losing strength.
