Resumen: A study of thc influence of the particlc size and volume fraction on fracture toughness and fatigue crack growth of reinforced metal matrix composites. is presented. A matrix of Al-Mg alloy, 6061, heat trcated at T6. reinforced with partides of silicon carbides SiC. present in three different dimensions and two volume fractions is studied. Results show a very low influence of the partide size and volume fraction on fracture toughness. For a constan! volume fraction, an increase on particle size leads toan improvement of the fatigue life. Results are anal) sed taking into account available models for fracture toughness calculations.
